Review and Buying Guide of Buying Guide of Philips HR7761/01 750W Kitchen Food Processor including 2 -

Philips food processor. This was encouraged by whicch and the evaluation was very well deserved. The item arrived rapidly and though i have not utilized all the attachments however the ones i have are creating my everyday living a lot less complicated in the kitchen and the price tag is really good.

Phiips viva food processor. Incredibly delighted with this processor in all the functions i have used. My only desire would be for the thicker slicer to create thicker slicers of food. Very effortless to use & so effortless to clear which is a actual included bonus. I have experienced other processors which i was reluctant to use for compact functions or amounts owing to the tricky or fiddly challenges of cleaning the equipment after.

I really like it. This food processor does everything my outdated magimix one particular did, but was considerably much much less expensive and is a neater, much more compact and lighter model. I really like it.

Good For the Money - But Not As Good As Expected. I live in an apartment and was looking for a compact food processor. My last apartment was furnished and had a food processor as part of the amenities. The food processor was a a philips, was compact, powerful enough and sturdy. The best thing about it was that all the blades stored inside the bowl unit so you could just pack it all away. The plastic parts were sturdy, but even so i managed to chip some parts off of it. I used it for 5 years and it was used before i arrived and it was working great when i left for other realms. With such a positive experience - philips was the first brand i looked at. I was only able to do my shopping online. This model had the most accessories and power for the money while promising to be compact. So i bought it. Cons:1)contrary to the last philips - the plastic on this one doesn't feel as sturdy. Likewise, the bowl and handle are separate pieces, rather than one piece which will probably be a weakness overtime and be prone to dirt and breakage. 2) the cutting blade in the last philips had plastic case around it for your and its protection. This model comes in a flimsy plastic packing case - like the plastic insert in a barbie doll package - that i guess you should hang onto for safety's sake but which is not made for long term use and will soon crack and be useless. 3) after much manoeuvring - i did manage to get all of the blades and grating discs to fit inside the unit with the lid shut. While there is a picture in the manual that shows this to be possible - it isn't accurate (as the picture also shows the spatula and there is no way by any reach of the imagination that it could fit in the bowl) and the putting in of the objects is neither intuitive, neat, or easy. At one point i was actually afraid i was going to break the thing. Therefore - i don't recommend storing it together in the unit. 4) the plastic on the whole unit - the bowl, the kneading blade, everything - just feels really cheap. Pros:1)this really gives you the most attachments for the money and the wattage. 2)if you have the inclination- you can store all the blades in the unit3) it does come with a blender and grinder attachment - though personally i would rather buy those separately and have a more sturdy and practically compact unityou get a 2yr guarantee - so i guess it has to at least be durable enough to last that long and i guess with the bargain price - you can afford to buy another one after that. In all, i'm disappointed, but for the price of the unit and the options it provides, can't justify giving it fewer stars. My overall assessment is that philips took what they had as a good compact model that was durable and practical and replaced it with a cheap thing while throwing in a blender and grinder. If i could do it over again, i would buy a different model - probably the bosch mcm 4006. But i would also suggest, if possible to see it in person first to check the quality of the parts. Update: april 30, 2013 -so i've been using the food processor about 3 times a week since purchasing it in december. I've used every attachment. Result: i love the compact size. It is still awkward to fit everything into the bowl (sans spatula) but once you figure it out it can be done. I'm loving the mini grinder - i didn't think i needed it, but am finding it useful all the time. Wear and tear: the color/speed labels on the power knob have already completely worn off. My husband is more upset about this than i am - its pretty easy to figure out speeds - but all the same it doesn't look smart. The mini grinder bowl also fell on our tile floor. It has an internal stress crack, but is still in one piece. Also, a piece of plastic from the lid snapped off during use with the granulating attachment - in fact, the entire lid came off during operation and that is how the bit snapped off. The lid still closes and it doesn't prevent the machine from turning on - but it is a bit disconcerting and i'll be contacting product support. .

Philips Hr7761/01 Viva Food Processor. Having had my wonderful kenwood chef for more years than i care to remember, i was not looking forward to replacing it when it finally 'gave up the ghost'. However, having read previous customer reviews for the philips viva i decided to take a chance on that one. I was looking for a processor without too many attachments as i tend not to use them all and didn't want them lost to the back of the kitchen cupboard. This one is better shaped for storage and given it's size, is surprisingly weighty/sturdy (something i wanted as my previous kenwood had been really sturdy). The attachments are easier to clean and are dishwasher safe, i however, prefer to wash by hand (just a personal choice). I do miss the variable speed 'slider' on my old kenwood, giving me a choice of 1 -10 speeds but the philips is proving to be up to the task; my kenwood also had plastic 'sheath' protectors for the chopping blades (which are obviously very sharp) which this new machine does not have, maybe philips could look at providing these with future machines. One very minor disappointment is the volume of the processor bowl. This product is advertised as having a 2 ltr capacity bowl when it actually has a recommended max fill capacity of 1. 5 ltrs. There is room to add more ingredients but that would take it over the maximum level and you risk spillage when processor is switched on. I make a variety of items in my processor including, chutneys, chilli jam and soups etc and overall, despite the minor concerns mentioned above, i am very happy with my new kitchen gadget and would definitely recommend to anyone who is a 'first time buyer' or someone who needs to replace their much loved kenwood chef. .

Questions & Answers

  • Can you make cakes with this?
You can mix cake ingredients with this but it will not cook them.
  • can it make pastry
Yep, but to be honest you'd probably want to make a lot (and freeze most of it) to make the clean-up worth the hassle.
  • Does the plastic accessory where you insert the grating/slicing blades show a lot of wear/discolouration after a while? Does it work well?
No, I am very pleased with this product. what I like about the attachment is that they are inserted after the bowl is placed. From experience, when I got my second food processor is wasn't like that and I saw the difference with that system: food waste when grating, easily broken and spilage when blending liquid. With this model I haven't had any problem: I am really pleased with it.
  • What capacity (in litres) are the processor and blender?
    Processor 1500 ml approx 1 1/2 litres blender.1000 mls approx 1 litre
  • Will it grind nuts into nut butter?
Hi Helena , there is a small attachment for it that is supposed to do nut grounding even though I have not tried it I should imagine it would. Good luck.
  • IS IT NOISY
Not any noisier than any other food processor - I haven't found it particularly noisy
  • Can Dosa/Idly batter me made with this by grinding rice?
I'm sorry, I do not know. I have never made idly batter so I would not know what sort of texture it should be. However, the machine is very capable of smoothly mixing wet mixtures/batters in the jug attachment and/or finely grinding hard substances such as almonds in the small attachment if that is of any help, Regards
  • How much does it hold?
According to the paperwork it is up to 1.5ltrs.
  • The description says it has a 2l bowl. Is this not right?
The processor does have a 2l bowl-this is the part that sits on top and holds all the processed food/cake mix etc. Very good easy to use processor -highly recommend.
  • Is the blender jar glass or plastic?
    Plastic
