Nice and Sturdy. I already have the breville shm2 mixer and stand and have been using it for quite some time so i have been measuring up breville's new creation, the vfp040 against it. On paper, the new vfp040 seems the better option, bigger motor, digital timer etc. And when you actually use the new vfp040 it works very well, the motor doesn't seem any noisier to me, the rubber tipped mixer blades are quieter, although not as much as you would think. Its only when you try to use it in your hand rather than on its stand that you notice the difference, it's a real beast, solid and because of the extra weight it doesn't judder so much. I use my shm2 mixer to 'mash' my spuds etc and doing the same with the vfp040 is a much better experience. My only criticism is because i don't keep my mixer out on the work surface for any longer than i'm using it the digital timer is not too useful for me. Otherwise a nice looking, useful addition to the kitchen.
